NEW….”…..Well, I’ve had the folding bike for a week and a half now and I feel I’m able to draw some conclusions; before I do, though, I’m going to take a quick look at bikes on buses. “What?!”, you say, “you can’t take a bike on a bus.” Actually, you can, although full size ones generally aren’t permitted.”
Despite my reservations, there are many more positives than negatives to a folding bike. It is quick and easy to assemble and disassemble, which means your whole journey time isn’t extended by having to build in lots of time for folding and unfolding. It fits easily onto busy trains when folded or, equally, can be put in the bike storage area fully assembled. It even fits….”

Huddersfield Town Centre – Cycle Routes Consultation – Your Opinion Counts!

The attached map of Huddersfield Town Centre shows the routes that the council will focus on developing with the funding that the West Yorkshire Combined Authority has recently secured through the “Cycle City Ambition Grant 2” (CCAG2) from Department for Transport.

Well, you’ll be glad to know we can help you over come these issues and more! FREE Bike loan!
Back by popular demand for a limited time only… NEWS FLASH! We now have brand new folding bikes, a power assisted bike and tandem available for loan.
Dont want to bike it all the way? Use your car to get you past the bits of your route you hate and then get the folding bike out to complete your way in while still getting some exercise, stress release and saving money!
You can loan a bike for FREE from Monday to Monday, between the times of 1200 – 1500, from Chris (Project Officer) in Huddersfield University Students Union, Student Central. This will come with a lock, lights, hi-vis top and a helmet. The loan of the bike is FREE, but we do need a £70 deposit (currently only cash no card) and you will need to complete a Bike Loan Agreement. The deposit will be fully refunded to you if the bike and accessories are returned in the condition they were loaned. Get a FREE bike loan in 6 easy steps:
- Complete a HAT Bike Loan Agreement and email it to chris.wilson@sustrans.org.uk
- We will then inform you if there are bikes available OR you will be asked if you want to loan a bike the following week
- Come and collect your bike on a Monday, between the times of 1200 – 1500, from Chris (Project Officer) in Huddersfield University Students Union, Student Central.
- The bike and any accessories will be checked and you will be taken through how to use everything
- You will be given some information to help you get the most out of your journeys
- Return the bike the following Monday, between the times of 1200 – 1500
